Welcome to Sunshine Therapy!

If you’re looking for pediatric therapies you’re in the right place! We offer ABA therapy and Occupational Therapy for children servicing the South Florida area. We’re always adding value to you by adding locations and insurance carriers.

What Sets Us Apart?

Speed is kind of our thing. We don’t like to wait for our own children to receive services and have gaps in service due to delays and other factors, so we work as fast as possible to get your child the care they deserve.

Our therapists are the best of the best. This is our secret sauce. Having a loving, communicative therapist is just as important to us and the quality of their care.

We are a relatively small agency and you feel that in the boutique-like attention you receive.

We are family-focused. Piggybacking off of #3, we give you our direct lines in case of emergencies because when you’re under our care, you’re part of the family.

ABA Therapy

Intake

Our services start with our intake form on our site. This is the time where families are able to express areas of concern and determine if we can meet their needs. You will be sent a Sunshine Therapy Parent Handbook and consent forms.

Who Qualifies for ABA Therapy?

A child will qualify for ABA Therapy if he displays maladaptive behaviors. A pediatric specialist will give you a referral for ABA Therapy and a diagnosis with an ICD-10 code. Different insurance companies will cover ABA based on the diagnosis given.

Verify Benefits

Our Team will verify eligibility for services and explain the insurance process for you. We will collect all the doctor’s orders and diagnosis to proceed on the assessment.

The Role of the BCBA

The BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) will assess your child every 6 months. During the initial assessment she will create a treatment plan taking many factors into account including your personal goals for your child. During subsequent assessments the BCBA will update the goals. She provides supervision and ongoing training to the RBT which ensures the treatment plan is effective and that the child is meeting his goals.

Parent Training

The BCBA will support and guide parents throughout the process allowing your child to meet his goals at school and home.

Role of the RBT

The RBT is with your child throughout the day. She is the one who implements the behavior plan and who is working one on one with your child.

Isn’t ABA Therapy Only For Children with Autism?

While an Autism diagnosis is almost always covered by insurance, many children with other diagnoses benefit greatly from this behavioral science.

What to expect

When services begin, our team will implement the treatment plan and target the goals on the assessment. Progress is monitored through data collection and evaluating each phase in services.

What is the goal of ABA Therapy?

One of the main goals of ABA therapy is to decrease maladaptive behaviors and increase positive independence and appropriate behaviors.

Occupational Therapy

Intake

The process is super simple. We ask for a Rx from the doctor, get some important history, collect signed consent forms and we’re ready to evaluate and treat!
